Modern Research
Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome (Bi Xie) contains various steroidal saponins, including dioscin. Upon hydrolysis, the total saponins yield diosgenin and related steroidal sapogenins.
It also contains tannins, starch, proteins, and other constituents. Studies have demonstrated that dioscin and gracillin possess antifungal activity.
